Oh boy, did I have a hard time narrowing down the photos for day 3! You are in for a long post with 17 photos ... I think that is the most I have posted at once. sorry! Day 3 started with a drive to another entrance of the park called Two Medicine. Stunning and actually only a very small part of the park is available for hiking and exploring. You can kayak or canoe the lake but there wasn't much on this side but pure wilderness, and lovely sunshine!
Two Medicine Lake
We did a short hike to Twin Falls (above), however at this particular time of the year it really is only a single fall. The twin normally flows above and down onto the fall you can see here but it was still an impressive fall.
Looking the opposite direction of Twin Falls, down the river. It was beautiful and peaceful.
We had to cross a small plank bridge which was lots of entertainment.
And both kids wanted their photos taken on it!
Looking back at Twin Falls
Dennis became obsessed with trying to capture the wonderfully colored rocks in the stream...
I don't know if he was ever successful but this is an example of them.
Kids in tow trying to help? Not quite ...
they preferred getting their feet wet and tromping around in his way!
Then we drove to the East entrance of GNP at St Mary's where ironically the cool clouds creeped down from the mountains. We drove the Going to The Sun road one last time and were greeted with the same cool drizzle and sudden downpours we encountered yesterday. Again, we didn't stop at any additional hikes. It was so cool and misty, really quite captivating. We did stop below Logan's Pass this time and not only lucked out on a parking spot but also had a little side adventure in the rain.
A mountain goat! and fairly close too!
The nature detective informed me that the mountain goat had been closer than expected by all their fur left behind on the trees...
and the scat on the tracks!
Alyssa and Dennis headed back to the car while Jaiden and I walked a little further and were alarmed when this cutie literally appeared from under the grated walkway and began digging furiously for something!
We started back to the car after our brief encounter of this marmot (who literally could have bit one of our toes!)...
And the nature detective discovered two baby mountain goats. You can see mama off to the left slightly behind the tree and rock near the bottom! Very exciting!
And this was the waterfall that we had originally stopped to view!
The rest of the drive was rather uneventful in terms of wildlife but amusing as we read this truck's advertisement...

Pretty hilarious and clever advertising! To cap off our last day we ate at Lake McDonald lodge and then went to Jack Gladstone's Buck Poet songs... so very powerful and wonderfully sung. While Alyssa was way past her bedtime and a little unruly especially near the end, his music was amazing and a perfect ending to a beautiful visit at Glacier NP.
